Victoria is the only Australian mainland State that has 'Undeclared' termite municipalities yet pest managers are treating infestations in these areas sometimes up to four and five times a day. This means that if you live in these areas you will have no notification there are termites there, increasing risk of termite infestation.
Since efforts began in March ’04, thirteen municipalities have redesignated to termite Declared:
Monash, Hume, Wyndham, Maroondah, Knox, Banyule, Moira, Moyne, Towong, Ararat, Warrnambool, Whitehorse and Frankston.

Termites have been part of Australia’s natural environment for thousands of years. With population density, unfortunately they have become more and more of a hazard in Victoria. Victorian homes including yours are one big potential food source.
Out of 79 Victorian Municipalities to date:
15 are declared and 16 are still unprotected in Metropolitan Melbourne.
40 are declared and 8 are still unprotected in Regional Victoria.
Infestation data based on pest manager and pole companies
(15 in all) has been collated to date.
60,000+ infestations have been recorded.
40,000+ are in the metropolitan area with
18,000+ in presently undeclared council areas.
This has been collated in strict compliance with the Privacy Act and adherence to Commercial in Confidence issues.
Statistics were gathered 2004. Today infestation numbers would be much higher.
Sensitive to privacy, Privacy Act compliance and commercial in confidence, complete Victorian Pest Manager cooperation was secured.
Numbers recorded are very understated. Only one infestation per location was recorded based on treatment. Enquiries and inspections or repeat work at the location is not included.
Besides the CSIRO overseeing the process, at least four Municipal Surveyors have independently verified our data- Hume, Knox, Wyndham and Maribyrnong who have immediately taken action to achieve redesignation to declared of their municipalities.
